Did you see this coming? To an extent, probably.
After a short period of speculation, the NASCAR team owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin has a name: 23XI Racing.
The name combines both Jordan’s infamous no. 23 and Denny Hamlin’s current number for his Joe Gibbs Racing ride.
This reveal comes roughly a month after it was announced that Bubba Wallace, NASCAR’s only current Black driver, was leaving Richard Petty Motorsports at the season’s end.
Garnering all of this attention made Wallace one of the most sought after drivers as his negotiations with RPM seemed to stall, but he ultimately sided with one of NASCAR’s newest teams.
With their driver and name now in place, 23XI Racing is now well on its way to beginning its first NASCAR season.
