Before we take a deep dive into the week 13 matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Washington Football team let's take a trip over to Twitter to take a peek at what the people are saying about the Bud Dupree injury and their undefeated record.
While I don't believe that there's an agenda against the Pittsburgh Steelers I do think that the Steelers have been given the short end of the stick due to the fact that the team has had to deal with cancellations and postponements for the second time this season.
Now I also don't want to be the Steeler fan that says that the Baltimore Ravens should have forfeited the contest against the Steelers. Due to the fact that their strength and conditioning coach Steve Saunders did not have the common sense to wear a mask which then started a team wide Covid-19 outbreak and forced the game to be moved on three separate occasions.
The Postponements were one thing but when the game gets moved three times due to Covid-19 that is a little much. Along with that the NFL commissioner Roger Godell released a statement regarding forfitures and punishments if a team broke protocol and the Ravens met those requirements.
Before I keep going down a rabbit hole with the events that transpired last week lets take a look at the task at hand for the Steelers this week.
The Steelers lost linebacker Bud Dupree who is now out for the rest of the year with a torn ACL. This is a huge loss for the Steelers. Now I am not like some fans across the league that have exclaimed that Pittsburgh's season is over since Bud Dupree is out. The National media has also said that the Steelers defense is just "average now."
That is further from the truth. The Steelers defense is still elite they still have TJ Watt, Cameron Heyward, and Stephon Tuitt upfront. Dupree's replacement Alex Highsmith a rookie who played at Charlotte has not gotten a lot of snaps in his rookie season but will now get the start with Dupree out. I really think Highsmith will fit in nicely for Dupree. Highsmith recorded an interception against the Baltimore Ravens in Week eight.
I still feel like this group of defenders are strong and will be able to control Alex Smith and Terry Mclaurin and the rest of the Washington Football Team. Along with that after a sloppy performance on the offensive side of the ball against the Ravens Ben Roethlisberger will be firing on all cylinders in this game torching the Washington Defense.
After this game against Washington they have three more tough games on their schedule with a meeting in Orchard Park with the Bills next Sunday Night, the Indianapolis Colts, and the Cleveland Browns. It will be a tough road ahead but I believe in this team and I believe they can finish out the undefeated season.
